Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival Amritsar
Upon arrival at Delhi airport, you will be greeted by a Globe Travel Centre representative and transferred to your hotel. Take the rest of the day to relax and unwind at your leisure. Overnight stay at the Hyatt Regency.
  • Day 02: Amritsar
This morning, you will visit the magnificent Golden Temple, the holiest site for Sikhs and a powerful symbol of the strength and unity of the Sikh community worldwide. It embodies the spirit of tolerance and acceptance central to Sikh philosophy. Afterward, you will also visit Jalianwala Bagh, a historically significant site where the tragic 1919 massacre took place, reminding us of the sacrifices made for India's freedom. In the afternoon, you will head to the Wagah Border to witness the renowned Border Retreat Ceremony, where the ceremonial beating of the retreat and the change of guard take place just a handshake away from the Indian and Pakistani forces. Wagah is the only land border open between India and Pakistan, making this a unique and captivating spectacle. Overnight stay at the Hyatt Regency.
  • Day 03: Amritsar - Delhi (By Train)
Enjoy a relaxing morning at leisure. Later you will be transferred to Amritsar railway station to board the superfast air-conditioned train to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi railway station you will be met by a representative and transferred to hotel. Overnight stay at the Claridges.
  • Day 04: Delhi
After breakfast, embark on a full-day tour of Old and New Delhi. Visit the iconic Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque, followed by an exhilarating rickshaw ride through the vibrant lanes of Old Delhi, including the bustling wedding street with its colorful saree shops, bangles, and jewelry. Drive past the President’s House and key government buildings in Lutyen’s Delhi before stopping at Rajghat, Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial. Conclude the day at Qutub Minar, an architectural masterpiece and one of Delhi’s most iconic landmarks, surrounded by historical ruins and lush greenery. Overnight stay at the Claridges.
  • Day 05: Delhi - Varanasi (by Flight)
In good time, you will be transferred to the airport to board a short flight to Varanasi, often regarded as India’s holiest city, located on the western banks of the sacred Ganges River. Known for its spiritual significance, the city is dotted with hundreds of temples, making it a major center of devotion and worship. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to witness the mesmerizing "Aarti" ceremony on the Ghats. Overnight stay at the Taj Ganges.
  • Day 06: Varanasi
This morning embark on a boat cruise along the Ganges River, where you can witness the daily rituals and spiritual practices of the pilgrims at the Ghats. This serene journey offers a unique insight into the sacred life along the river, with the sights and sounds of devotion unfolding around you. After the boat ride, proceed on an excursion to Sarnath, one of the most important Buddhist sites in India. Sarnath is where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment, and it remains a key pilgrimage destination for Buddhists worldwide. Explore the ancient ruins, temples, and the serene surroundings that hold deep religious significance. The day promises a blend of cultural and spiritual discovery. Overnight stay at the Taj Ganges.
  • Day 07: Varanasi - Khajuraho (by Flight)
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Khajuraho. Upon arrival check in at your hotel. The small sleepy town of Khajuraho was once the religious capital of the mighty Chandela dynasty, which built 85 magnificent temples here and decorated them with intricate and lively erotic sculptures drawing inspiration from and illustrating concepts from the Kama Sutra, an ancient Indian text on love. Only twenty two of these highly erotic sandstone temples remain, though they are well preserved and showcase a prolific period of Hindu temple sculpture though the importance of eroticism in these temples is still a mystery. Post lunch visit both, the eastern & western group of temples. Overnight stay at the Jass Radisson.
  • Day 08: Khajuraho - Orchha (171 Km/ 3 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Orchha and check in to your hotel upon arrival. Later, enjoy a guided tour of this historic destination, famous for its stunning temples and monuments. This picturesque village, reminiscent of an Indiana Jones adventure, offers a window into its glorious past. Majestic, ancient temples and palaces rise from the surrounding jungle, overlooking the rolling hills and the wide, boulder-strewn Betwa River. The palaces are adorned with intricate painted murals, showcasing the peak of the Bundela school of painting. Overnight stay at the Orchha Palace.
  • Day 09 : Orchha - Jhansi - Bhopal (by Surface /Train)
After breakfast you will be transferred to Jhansi railway station to board train to Bhopal. On arrival you will be met at the station and transferred to the hotel. Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is a fascinating amalgam of scenic beauty, old historic city and modern urban planning. It is the 11th century city Bhojpal, founded by Raja Bhoj, but the present city was established by an Afghan soldier, Dost Mohammed (1707-1740). His descendants built Bhopal into a beautiful city. In the evening, enjoy a short city tour of Bhopal, known as the "City of Lakes." Overnight stay at the Jehan Numa Palace.
  • Day 10: Bhopal - Maheshwar (291 Km/ 6.5 hrs)
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and drive to Maheshwar. Maheshwar is located on the banks of the Narmada and is an important pilgrimage centre. Its beautiful temples and ghats were elected by Queen Ahilyabai in the mid 18th century. Maheshwar's temples and mighty fort-complex stand in quiet beauty, mirrored in the river below. This benevolent Queen was described by a British colonial official as "one of the purest and most exemplary rulers that ever lived". Overnight stay at the Ahilya Fort.
  • Day 11: Maheshwar (Day-trip to Omkareshwar)
After breakfast take a day excursion to Omkareshwar. Omkareshwar, the sacred island, shaped like the holiest of all Hindu symbols, 'Om', has drawn to it hundreds of generations of pilgrims. Here, at the confluence of the rivers Narmada and Kaveri, the devout gather to kneel before the Jyotirlinga (one of the twelve throughout India) at the temple of Shri Omkar Mandhata. Overnight stay at the Ahilya Fort.
  • Day 12: Maheshwar
Day at leisure. Overnight stay at the Ahilya Fort.
  • Day 13 : Maheshwar - Indore - Mumbai (by Surface/Flight)
You will be transferred to Indore airport in good time to catch a short flight to Mumbai. Upon arrival in Mumbai, your driver will meet you and take you to your hotel near the airport. Overnight stay at the Leela Mumbai.
  • Day 14: Mumbai - Departure
In good time you will be transferred to Mumbai airport to board your onward flight.

When Should I go?

The months of September through to March are considered to be favourable months to travel to India. September has the added advantage of being in the “good weather” bracket but also technically falls in the off season in most places, so prices are cheaper for travel in September. The months of October through to February are pleasant in most parts of the country, though you will find the temperatures varying between chilly in the North and warmer in the southern parts of the country.

India’s weather is varied and different parts of the country may get monsoons at different times. May and June are hot months across the country except for the hill stations in the North.

The country gets monsoons in the months of June and July though along the south western coast, there are monsoons in the period between October to December too.

June and July are monsoon months in Kerala, the showers being heavy at first and then easing off gradually. Whilst these are not the best months for tours, interestingly, this happens to the best time for travellers seeking the therapeutic Ayurveda treatment which is said to be most effective in these months.
