3Horton Plains
Horton Plains is a high-altitude national park located in the central highlands known for its stunning natural beauty and rich biodiversity. Situated at an elevation of about 2,100 meters (6,900 feet), the park features a unique landscape of grasslands, cloud forests, and rolling hills. It is renowned for the World's End, a dramatic cliff offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and a sheer drop of about 870 meters (2,850 feet). Detailed Itinerary

  • DAY 01: ARRIVAL COLOMBO. (40KM/1HR)
You will be greeted by Globe Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to the majestic Mount Lavinia H otel in Colombo. Day at leisure to explore Colombo’s myriad offerings of shopping and dining adventures.Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
  • DAY 02: COLOMBO - SINGHARAJA (200KM/5HRS
Travel to the Singharaja Rain Forest this morning. The island’s top bio diversity spot, the Singharaja forest is home to many endemic species of trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Check into your campsite and do some escorted forest exploration in the afternoon. Amongst the forests many animals, you will spot mouse deers, barking deers and the occasional leopard. The most commonly seen primate is the purple faced Leaf Monkey. For those interested, there is another uphill trek of about 1.5 km , providing excellent photo opportunities of various reptiles and insects. Overnight at the campsite. (Vehicle for transfer).
  • DAY 03: SINGHARAJA
The camp is an ideal location for some early morning bird watching before taking another fascinating nature trail through the forest. Return to the camp site for your overnight stay.
  • DAY 04: SINGHARAJA – UDAWALAWE (100KM/2.5HRS)
Travel to Udawalawe National Park for your next wildlife adventure. Upon your arrival at the gates of the National Park, you will board a jeep and travel into the park to your campsite where accommodation will be provided in comfortable tents. Day at leisure. Enjoy a beautiful evening by campfire. Overnight at the campsite
  • DAY 05: UDAWALAWE
Take a tour of the N ational Park by jeep in the morning. The park is famous for the many elephants that live there. During a visit, it is not unusual to see whole herds – adults and young, feeding and bathing or playing in the water! In addition to this main attraction, the park is also home to many water buffaloes, water monitor lizards, sambar deers, monkeys and the occasional leopard. Overnight at the campsite
  • DAY 06: UDAWALAWE – HORTON PLAINS (150KM/4HRS
Travel to the Horton Plains today. Since vehicles are not allowed inside the park, Horton Plains is a participatory camping location, giving you the opportunity of getting involved in the whole process of setting up the camp, and even assisting in the cooking! Although park regulations prohibit the lighting of campfires, we can still create a magical setting with lanterns and the wonderful surrounding views of the Plains themselves. Overnight in the park.
  • DAY 07: HORTON PLAINS
Leave the campsite on a trek in the Horton Plains before sunrise. Characterised by a beautiful landscape of rolling hills, covered in upper montane forest and wet grassland, the Horton Plains span across approximately 10,000 hectares and is also home to a wide variety of flora (57 species, 29 endemic to Sri Lanka) and 24 species of mammals such as elk, deer, giant squirrel, wild boar, wild hare, porcupine and leopard. You will also see other attractions such as ‘Baker’s Falls’, ‘Chimney Pool’ and the famous ‘World’s End’ (a 3700 ft sheer drop that offers fabulous views of the tea estates below and all the way out to the distant southern coastline). Return to the campsite for your overnight stay.
  • DAY 08: HORTON PLAINS – NUWARA ELIYA – NEGOMBO (200KM/6HRS)
Leave the park in the morning and travel to Negombo, via Nuwara Eliya and Kitulgala. Enroute you can visit a tea factory and a plantation. Continue to Kitulgala, where you could stop to visit the location where the Oscar award winning movie “The Bridge over River Kwai” was filmed. Proceed to Negombo, and check into the Blue Oceanic Hotel for your overnight stay. (Vehicle for the transfer)
  • DAY 09: NEGOMBO
After breakfast, visit the Muthurajawela marshlands. Said to be the island’s largest saline peat bog, the marsh boasts a wide variety of flora and fauna. Visitors can see water birds such as herons, egrets in abundance in the lagoon and marsh. It is also home to 40 different species of fish, of which 15 fall under the category of indigenous fauna. The rest of the day is free to relax in the hotel and enjoy the sun, sea and the pool. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal
  • DAY 10: NEGOMBO – DEPARTURE (12KM/20MNS)
Departure transfer to the airport for your return flight. (Vehicle for transfer)
