Detailed Itinerary

  • DAY 01: ARRIVAL COLOMBO (40KMS/1HR)
You will be greeted by Globe Travel Centre representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transferred to your hotel. This highly underrated city boasts the perfect union between colonial imperialism and modern sophistication and offers a thriving art scene, fantastic culinary delights and high-end brands at bargain prices.   • DAY 02: COLOMBO – CULTURAL TRIANGLE (180KMS/4HRS)
Today visit the spectacular Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an awe inspiring palace- cum- fortress sitting atop a 200m rock outcrop. Built in the 5th century by a tyrant king fleeing exile, the fortress, now rated as the eighth wonder of the world, is a jaw-dropping architectural marvel. The stiff climb to the top is one of the Island’s most memorable experiences taking you from the moat, ramparts and water gardens that ring the base up narrow steps and past 5th century paintings of heavenly maidens on the rock face.   • DAY 03: CULTURAL TRIANGLE
Visit Polonnaruwa, where you will see the remains of this medieval capital located by the side of the magnanimous man-made lake “Parakrama Samudraya” built by the king Parakrmabahu–I (1153-1186 AD).The remains include the superbly carved Vadatage, arguably one of Sri Lanka’s finest buildings and the majestic statues at Gal Vihara including the famous 5 meter long reclining Buddha. Also visit the Pollanuruwa museum.On your way back, visit the Minneriya National Park by jeep accompanied by a tracker. The region is home to wild elephants who gather in huge herds on the shores of the lake to drink and bathe. Return to the hotel for your overnight stay. (Vehicle at disposal)
  • DAY 04: CULTURAL TRIANGLE
Today visit Ritigala, an enigmatic mountain covered in dense enchanting forests. Ritigala finds mention in the great Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ which was written over 3000 years ago. According to the epic, Ravana the king of demons abducted Sita, the wife of Lord Rama and held her in Sri Lanka. Rama’s loyal warrior, the monkey god ‘Hanuman’ tracked Sita down to Ravana's stronghold. Lore has it that the monkey god used the Ritigala Mountain as a launching pad to leap across to South India to convey the news to Lord Rama. The mountain also features the remains of ancient Buddhist temples, hospitals and the dwellings of priests. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle at disposal)
  • DAY 05: CULTURAL TRIANGLE - KANDY (80KMS/2.5Hrs)
Travel to Kandy. On your way you could visit the cave temples in Dambulla which are filled with hundreds of exquisitely carved and painted statues including huge reclining Buddhas, delicately painted deities and an array of murals on the walls. You can also visit a spice garden in Matale, where many varieties of spices are grown. Continue onwards to Kandy and check into your hotel for your overnight stay. (Vehicle at disposal)
  • DAY 06: KANDY
Travel to Peradeniya where you can visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. Established in 1821, the Gardens occupy nearly 150 acres on a loop on the river Mahaweli and has an orchid house offering more than 300 varieties of Orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palms trees. In the afternoon, you could take a tour of the city, visit the famed temple of the Sacred Tooth (which is believed to house a tooth of the Buddha) and also view a cultural show featuring traditional Kandyan dance performances.   • DAY 07: KANDY - BENTOTA (180KMS/4.5HRS
This morning, after the brakfast check out from the hotel and travel onwards to Bentota and check into your hotel Rest of the day at leasure. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for transfer)
  • DAY 08: BENTOTA
You can spend the day at leisure on the beach. You could also visit a turtle hatchery in the area where concerned locals have established protected areas of beach where visiting turtles can lay eggs and where baby turtles can be safely returned to the water. Overnight at the hotel.
  • DAY 09: BENTOTA
Today visit the port city of Galle. One of Sri Lanka’s finest colonial-era showpieces, this Dutch built town and the 17th century fort of Galle offer a fascinating glimpse into the colonial past of the Island. Huge bastions and ramparts enclose the quaint town with its narrow streets, old villas and offer mesmerizing sunset views across the Indian Ocean. Overnight at the hotel. (Vehicle for sightseeing)
  • DAY 10: BENTOTA / DEPARTURE (105KMS/2.5HRS)
Departure transfer to the airport for your return flight. (Vehicle for transfer).
